Launched in 2023, the bZ4X is currently the sole electric vehicle offered by Toyota. It is available in three different grades: Pure, Motion, and Vision, respectively. 'Pure' serves as the entry-level variant, while 'Vision' represents the higher-end variant.
All variants of the Toyota BZ4X come with the same electric configuration: a 150 kW motor paired with a 71.4 kWh battery. This ensures that each variant has the same range and power output.
The vehicle is available with two drive options: all-wheel drive (AWD) and rear-wheel drive (RWD). The RWD model features a single 150kW electric motor that produces 201bhp and 265Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 100 mph. On the other hand, the AWD variant boasts two 80kW electric motors, one for each axle, offering a combined output of 214.5bhp and a torque of 336Nm. While the top speed remains unchanged, the AWD model has a slightly faster 0-62 mph acceleration time of 6.9 seconds.
The bZ4x was first launched in 2022 in the UK. It got its first update in 2023 where the software was updated which has increased range and charging speed. Also, in 2023 Toyota also introduced 11 kWh charger as well which replaced the 6.6 kWh charger in its first variant, improving the vehicle's charging capabilities further.
The 2024 variant will launch in the UK in early of 2024. Aesthetically there is no major change in the 2024 variant other than the electric badge in the charging port is replaced by "BEV" which indicated Toyota line of battery electric vehicles. In the 2024 Toyota will have a major tech change. The major tech changes are related to thermal management and efficiency in the vehicle.

Aside from the dual-tone black fenders, the exterior design effectively delivers in all other aspects. Toyota's design team has done remarkable work in terms of aerodynamics. The design incorporates aerodynamic elements very well, which contributes to the vehicle's driving range.
The hammerhead front shape fulfils its intended purpose by conveying a sense of aggressiveness and strength, two attributes that the BZ4X aptly delivers.
The bZ4X pure and the bZ4X motion both comes with a standard 18" alloy wheels with wheel caps (5 double spoke). The higher end variant: motion, comes with 20" alloy wheels (5 double spoke). Since all the variants share the same dimensions, the 18" standard alloy wheels does look small and does not aid in to aggressive look of the vehicle.

Regarding the steering wheel, its position relative to the speedometer may raise questions. Is it ideal? This depends on the driver's preference. For some, the greater distance may be more comfortable. Drivers accustomed to a standard distance between the steering wheel and speedometer might need time to adjust.
As mentioned earlier, every aspect of the design has been thoughtfully considered. The slim and low-set instrument panel aligns perfectly with the steering wheel. The glossy black infotainment cluster is visually appealing, though this again comes down to personal preference. Some may find it modern and attractive, while others might prefer the practicality of a matte black finish. The glossy surface is more susceptible to fingerprints, scratches, and glare. We believe there should be an option to choose between the two finishes.
As EVs often embody a minimalist lifestyle, the BZ4X's interior reflects this with its sleek and minimalist design.
The bZ4X has a 452 litres of boot space. It is competitive within its vehicle class.
The Toyota bZ4X has an interior length of 1940 millimetres, an interior width of 1515 millimetres, and an interior height of 1160 millimetres. These dimensions ensure a spacious and comfortable interior for the electric SUV.
Considering the practicality nature of SUVs: the more the cup holders the better. BZ4x does have centre twin cup holders, which can be enough for some users; however, it might not be sufficient for many.

Testing the AWD variant, which Toyota claims has a range of 285 miles, we achieved ranges of 301 and 297 miles on a full charge, exceeding Toyota's claim.
