The Audi Q5 is a regular in Motorfinity’s top 10, and the plug-in hybrid recently reached number one. The third-generation model arrived in the UK in October 2024. It’s built on Audi’s new Premium Platform Combustion, shared with the A5 and A6, and brings a screen-led interior and mild-hybrid engines across the range. You can choose the Q5 SUV, the sleeker Q5 Sportback, the SQ5 performance model or the Q5 e-hybrid plug-in.
So, is the 2026 Q5 still the smart choice for families and frontline workers who need space, comfort and easy long-distance driving?

Does the 2026 Audi Q5 meet expectation?
When reviewing the new 2026 Audi Q5, we focused on three key areas: the driving experience, external and internal design, and practicality.
Read on to find out our thoughts on each.
A comfortable driving experience
Comfort and refinement are the Audi Q5’s strengths. It’s stable, grips well, thanks to standard quattro four-wheel drive, and leans little for a tall car. It isn’t as sharp as a BMW X3, but few family buyers will mind. The diesel is relaxed on the motorway, and the hybrid system smooths out stop-start traffic in town.

An aesthetically pleasing design
The Audi Q5 looks smart yet the S line’s bodywork adds more style. Inside, the driving position, visibility and big screen are excellent. We advise you sit in one before you order to check if it suits you.

A car that provides sufficient room
The 520-litre boot is average for the class, behind the X3 and GLC. It’s still long and flexible, with a powered tailgate and 40/20/40 folding seats. Two six-footers fit in the back, and the wide rear doors help with child seats. There’s no seven-seat option.
Our verdict
The 2026 Audi Q5 is a comfortable, quiet, practical family SUV that’s very easy to live with. The 2.0 TDI in S line trim with air suspension is a sweet spot. The plug-in hybrid has become our customers’ favourite, recently topping our bestseller list. It’s an easy car to recommend.
"The level of tech is fantastic. Everything is automatic which makes life very convenient. It even has a sunroof which I haven’t had on a car since the late 90s, so it’s great to have that again. The overall size of it is brilliant as the room allows for a comfortable driving experience, especially when we go on long journeys. We also have a caravan, and with the Q5 it feels as though there’s nothing behind us which is a revelation. It’s a superb car."
