Comfort and refinement are the A3 Sportback's strengths. Reviewers agree it is smooth, quiet and easy to drive, and that town driving and parking are effortless. It is not the sportiest in its class, but if you want more pace, the S3 could be the answer.
A sharp, modern design
The A3 Sportback still looks sharp several years into its life. The facelift adds configurable LED daytime running lights and optional Matrix LED headlights, and S line and Black Edition give a noticeably sportier stance.
A well-built and comfortable interior
The cabin is well built rather than flashy, with a good driving position, a standard front armrest and plenty of seat and wheel adjustment. The infotainment system is rated as good, and the 12.3-inch digital driver display is standard on every trim.
Sufficient room for driver and passengers alike
The 380-litre boot is average for the class, but it has a wide opening and a useful square shape. The floor can be raised and lowered on non-hybrid cars. Front space is generous for tall adults. Rear space suits families with younger children and is adequate for 2 adults on a long journey. Keep in mind that the plug-in hybrid loses boot space (280 litres) because the underfloor storage is removed.
