Who is the Changan car company?
Although the Changan car brand isn’t as well-known in the UK market, they have origins that trace back as far as 1862 when they were initially part of a military supply factory.
However, the Changan car company officially launched in 1984 when they released their first batch of microcars, which saw a significant transition from a military enterprise to a civilian vehicle manufacturer. They have since established strategic partnerships with other brands such as Ford and Mazda, while also establishing a design centre in Turin to ensure their vehicles meet European standards.
From September 2025, Changan’s premium all-electric SUVs entered the UK market with the Deepal S07. The Deepal S05 entered the market shortly after in March 2026. And with Changan being ranked No.1 among Chinese brand in the 'J.D. Power China Initial Quality Study (IQS)', motorists can be sure to purchase cars that will deliver high-quality performance over the long term.

Changan Deepal S07
The Changan Deepal S07 is the first model that the company has introduced to the UK market and it’s already proving to be a savvy all-electric SUV option.
Measuring in at an impressive 4.7 metres, the Deepal S07 is a great match for families as it provides plenty of leg and headroom, meaning you can put a big tick next to ‘rear-seat comfort’. And this is matched where practicality is concerned as boot space accommodates 445 litres, with an additional 125 litres in the ‘frunk’. So, whether you’re planning a trip out or require luggage room for a family holiday, this car has you covered.
The Deepal S07 isn’t built purely for practicality however, as the interior is truly showstopping. The cabin feels high quality with soft-touch materials strewn throughout, providing a luxurious experience for both the driver and passengers alike. And with premium features including a 15.6-inch swivel touchscreen, panoramic roof, and a selection of car modes that enhance overall comfort, you can travel to accommodate your own preferences.
Although there is only one trim level, the Deepal S07 is absolutely stacked with high-tech kit. And with a retail price that just falls under the £40,000 threshold, you can enjoy a car that not only provides a lot of bang for your buck but also sidesteps the need to pay the premium car tax.

Entering the UK market approximately 6 months after the Deepal S07, the S05 has been introduced as the brand’s compact SUV alternative.
And while it may be smaller in stature, it doesn’t prove to be any less practical where space and storage are concerned. The S05 uses its compact frame wisely with an impressive 492-litre boot space, along with a large storage compartment between the front seats, large door bins, and plenty of foot room in the back.
Like its big sibling, the S05 is designed to look stylish both inside and out. Aesthetically, the low roofline, 20-inch alloy wheels and LED lights combine effectively to make an instant premium first impression. This quality theme continues on the inside with the car’s impressive tech including a 15.4-inch central display, augmented-reality head-up display, full-leatherette interior, and heated and ventilated front seats that enhance both the driver and passenger experience.
This car is available in one trim-level which provides a single battery option of 68.8kWh. However, this is available in both rear or all-wheel drive, with the former providing a range of 303 miles and the latter a slightly lower 278 miles.
The S05’s outstanding standard kit makes it truly unique. This is really driven home when you realise that upgrading its competitors to the same standard would cost significantly more – once again proving that Changan offer a lot of car for the price tag.
