Who are XPENG?
Founded in 2014, XPENG is widely recognised as one of China’s leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers and have branched out their operating hubs across China, the US, and Europe.
Initially, XPENG’s early focus was primarily on the development of technology around electric vehicles, software platforms and intelligent driving systems rather than launching vehicles. This emphasis on software has positioned themselves as a technology company alongside being a car manufacturer, which has been widely acknowledged by the automotive industry.
XPENG’s technological credentials caught the attention of Volkswagen Group in 2023, leading to them investing approximately $700 million for a 4.99% stake in the company. The deal was widely viewed as validation of XPENG’s technological capabilities by one of the world’s largest vehicle manufacturers.
Prior to this deal, XPENG had already released several cars into the market, most notably the XPENG G6, which was introduced to European markets in 2024.

XPENG G6
The G6 is XPENG’s introduction to the UK and has already proven to be a serious contender in the all-electric SUV market.
Its smooth exterior coupled with a stylish cabin strewn with soft plastics, faux leather or fabric trim make it an aesthetically pleasing choice from the outset. The overall build quality is equally as impressive, as there is noticeable sturdiness throughout.
However, where this car really shines is through its outstanding level of tech. Your eyes are naturally drawn to the huge 15.0-inch touchscreen accompanied by a large driver’s display. This provides a central location to manage your infotainment and proves to be a very responsive system, allowing you to easily manage key areas of the car such as climate control.
XPENG’s great tech also extends to its range capabilities. The G6 offers ‘Standard Range’ and ‘Long Range’ with the former claiming 270 miles on a charge with the latter up to 354 miles. With either option, this is outstanding range capability that's miles better than many of its competitors. And with the ability to achieve a 10-80% charge in 20 minutes, along with being 11kW home charging compatible, the G6 makes for a highly practical car.
And you’ll be pleased to hear that practicality is also the theme where space is concerned. Boasting an ample 571-litre boot alongside rear passenger space that is more than suitable for those over 6ft tall, the G6 is a great family car option.
